Yoga: Maximum Benefits, Minimal Equipment
One of the aspects of yoga that appeals to many people is the fact that you don't need a lot of equipment to perform the movements. In fact, you don't need any equipment to perform most simple yoga exercises. This makes yoga an activity that can easily be practiced at home or away.
In addition, it makes it easier for those of any age to add yoga exercises to their fitness routine. And the benefits that it will present to them are well worth the little bit of effort it takes.
It's not just that it's one of the more beneficial fitness programs you can take up. It’s also one of the few that requires virtually no investment of money. Loose clothing is the only essential requirement; you need to be comfortable while you're moving through the poses. Bare feet are the norm when practicing yoga. So you don't even need to buy any special footwear.
As you become more advanced in your practice of yoga, you might feel the need to add some pieces of equipment to assist in taking yourself to higher levels. The simplest purchase is probably a yoga mat. This useful product lowers the risk of slipping when you're performing standing poses, and gives you cushioning when you're sitting.
You might also consider purchasing some yoga straps that will help you stretch more effectively. Straps improve your flexibility because they make it possible to handle positions that you couldn't do without their help. But this doesn't have to be much more than a belt or piece of rope that you probably already have. Even if you spring for the genuine yoga straps you won't be paying out a lot of money.
Any of these basic items certainly won't cost you a fortune. And equipment such as yoga mats, straps and bolsters will help to get your body in the correct position, providing alignment for your spine and legs. They're certainly worth the price, however they're not essential.
And the only other item that you could possibly need would be a blanket. Almost everybody has one of these.
Yoga is practiced extensively in countries where the people can't afford to spend money on exercise equipment. So there's no reason to break the bank in order to get the benefits of yoga exercises.
Is there an easy way to bend a piece of wood without a lot of equipment?
They soak it in something for days and days. Maybe just water, but there might be some additives to make it easier. You can't use just any wood, either. Then you gradually bend it more and more, keeping it soaking. When it goes so far and not any further, you need to put it in a sturdy brace to keep it's shape while it's soaking some more. A long process.
Another way is to use a router to gouge out several sections (gaps inbetween the wood like slots). Not cut all the way through the wood, and then you may be able to curve it more if it's flexible.
