What type of kitchenware is this metal serving dish, what's it made of, country of origin?
It looks like aluminum but is heavier (not pewter or silver) but is shiny like stainless steel,yet won't attract a magnet. The middle of the dish is about 1/4"thick and the end where a person would hold it, is 1/2'' thick. It is shaped like an oval serving dish and has a metalworked design etched into the metal on the inside and underside of the dish. Have never seen anything like this. The design is etched rabbits. I would lilke to know if this is even from the U.S. Thanks
To the very nice answer, it is not Arthur Court or Wilton. It is definitely hammered metal. On the underside but not on the bottom is a large Z. This work is very crude compared to the above mentioned artists.
Sure sounds like Arthur Court... if memory serves, that line of serving pieces is made of some kind of special blend of metal that would fit your description... plus, I'm pretty sure they were making lots of pieces involving rabbit designs at one time. Do a quick search for "Arthur Court" on ebay and see if that's it.
If that's what you have, lucky you! It's expensive stuff, sold in high-end department stores.
