Rice Cookers Do More Than Cook Rice
Rice cookers are a perfect way to cook rice. It is easy and requires very little effort or skill. Did you know that there are many things than you can do with these cookers?
There are things to remember when using rice cookers. You will not need as much water as in conventional preparation methods. They contain most of the steam inside. Most times, you will use one cup of rice for every one and one fourth cups of water. For metric, use 300cc for water and 240cc for rice. However, check the instructions that come with your cooker.
Rice cookers are very easy to use. You simply place the rice and water in the pan. Place the pan in the cooker and press the cook button. You may wish to rinse your rice first.
Your cooker was made for kitchen use. However, you may live in an apartment or smaller house. You may have very little space in your kitchen. You may sit your cooker on a dining room furniture set. Make sure that you place a hot pad underneath the unit.
Many of the rice cookers have non-stick cooking pans. They are durable. However, do not insert anything like a kitchen hand mixer in them. This may scratch the surface or damage them.
Steamed vegetables
Did you know that you could also steam vegetables with some rice cookers? Look for cookers that are also steamers. You will get more kitchen use from it that way. The Zojirushi rice cooker also steams food. Its non-stick pan is removable. It also cleans easily.
It has a separate steaming tray that is made of stainless steel. When your food is done cooking, the cooker goes into warming mode. The lid is see-through glass. You will not have to lift it to examine your food. The handles are designed to stay cool to the touch. You get a spatula, measuring cup, and removable power cord, with it.
You will be able to fix many recipes with your cooker. Recipes like jambalaya and oatmeal are possible. You can make many rice dishes also. Search online for recipes for rice cookers. You will find many recipes.

Rice cookers are good for cooking rice. You can do many other things with them also. Some will steam vegetables for you. They are a great deal of recipes that you can prepare with them. They can save you a lot of time and trouble in the kitchen.
